WYO Quarter Horse Sales 10th Annual Fall Production and Performance Sale
September 11, 2010 • Thermopolis, Wyoming
Twenty-seven years ago, Bill and Carole Smith started the WYO Quarter Horse Sale, and it has developed into one of the country’s elite Quarter Horse gelding sales.
In addition to Bill and Carole, family members Rick and Lynn Smith, Jack and Becky Wipplinger, Todd and Lori Fike, and partner H.B. (Woody) Bartlett produce two sales annually. The Arena and Ranch Broke Gelding sale is held each May, and the Ranch Broke Gelding and Production sale is held in September. This will be the 10th year for the September Sale.
“Buyers attend our sale because they know they can be assured they’ll receive honest representation of the horses and get a 30-day guarantee on soundness as well as representation,” says Carole. “These geldings are pretty, gentle and ready to go, and our young horses are all home-raised.”
Sale-goers can expect to see 40 broke geldings, 30 started 2-year-olds from the Bartlett Ranch, 20 weanlings representing breeding from both the WYO and Bartlett Ranches, and a few 3-in-1 package mares.
On Friday night before the sale, buyers will have a chance to see horses led into the ring, accompanied by a video, during the parade of geldings and 2-year-olds. The roping preview is Saturday morning, followed by the sale, which starts at noon.
