Chuck wagon cook Kent Rollins is set to appear on NBC’s new food competition series Food Fighters. Rollins, who was named the Official Chuck Wagon Cook of Oklahoma in 1996, submits a recipe and a column each issue in Western Horseman. He and his wife travel the country catering for parties and festivals, along with cooking for traditional working ranches across Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and New Mexico using their 1876 Studebaker chuck wagon.

The new television series Food Fighters is set to premiere on NBC July 22 at 7 p.m. Central Time. In this high-stakes food battle, the best amateur cooks in America put their signature dishes to the test competing against professional chefs. Cash prizes increase with every round where a professional chef is knocked out. A "Dinner Party" of culinary judges determines who has created the tastiest dish, revealing whether amateur cooks have what it takes to beat the very best.

In his role as one of the professional chefs, Rollins will appear in two of the eight episodes to defend his classic cowboy-cooking style. Rollins is no stranger to television competition. He appeared on the Food Network’s Chopped Grill Masters and Redemption episodes and also took on Bobby Flay in a Throwdown to claim the title of best chicken fried steak.

“I enjoy the thrill of competition. But this is different since I’m the one to beat rather than the other way around. I truly respect home cooks, because I’ve been one, and I know what it takes to feed a family. But I’m ready to take on any dish and show how this cowboy can cook, whether it’s around the campfire or on a culinary stage,” Rollins said.
